The St James’s Factory (Girl in a Swing) and Chelsea were
renowned for making bijouterie or ‘toys’ – small exquisite
items, including scent-bottles, bonbonnières, étuis and
seals, which were mounted by jewellers with gold or gilt
metal fittings.
